Talking about war and peace. Facilitating learning in times of crisis
“Talking about war and peace” is a self-paced online course that guides you through a process of reflection and practical activities on how to approach this topic in your work, locally or in transnational events.
As a facilitator, trainer or youth worker that works with interculturally mixed groups of young people you know that it is difficult to address this topic. Indeed, talking about war and peace is a challenge.
This course aims at preparing and supporting you facing this challenge. The activities and reflections guide you through a process of self-clarification and introduces tools to work with young people locally or in transnational events.
How to facilitate learning in times of war and crisis?
To answer this, the course is focusing on three areas:
- Me as a facilitator, trainer and youth worker (the personal level): This is all about how you can prepare yourself and create a safe space for yourself and the people you work with.
- Me and others (the interpersonal level): This is about you, the young people you work with and the question of how to facilitate the learning process of individuals and groups in the context of war and crises.
- Me and community (the local level): This is about you, your community and small actions that can be implemented by and in your community.
- Additionally, this course has a toolbox with various approaches and tools on how to facilitate learning in times of war and crisis as well as a list of additional resources.
The context of this online course
This online course has its origins in the transnational seminar “How to talk about war? - Working with young people in times of war crisis”, which took part 11-16 of July 2022 in Toruń, Poland. The seminar offered a space to reflect on how to talk with young people about the war, its consequences and how it affects our lives. And it inspired participants to take small actions and be impactful in their work as facilitators, trainers or youth workers. This online course also includes content from another residential event in Poland: “Social Inclusion of Young Refugees”, a training course from 27 till 30 September 2022 in Gdańsk.

With the support of 5 different partners from Europe, this online course on entrepreneurship offers everything that you would need to kick-start your entrepreneurship journey.

The situation that has arisen placed new challenges in the socio-economic and cultural sectors. The economic recession has put unemployment rates high. The consequences of the lockdowns across Europe have created gaps in the education and training of young people and placed significant obstacles to their entry into the labor market. However, the creative minds of young people and entrepreneurs have found ways to cope with the current situation and create positive value out of it.
The project Young Entrepreneurship in Time of Crisis (YETC) aims to facilitate youth activism and foster an entrepreneurial mindset through networking, sharing best practices, and developing innovative NILF tools. The project results will help young people overcome the uncertainty caused by the unstable socio-economic situation across Europe and create a positive value by filling the gaps and promoting new entrepreneurial endeavors. The YETC project addresses the needs of young people and youth workers in finding the realization of their ideas and initiatives through entrepreneurship and active participation.FOKUS Kompetenz: Weiterbildung

Healthy Body Sound Mind
The course to support pupils in their Right to Play and their Right to quality Education. The project promotes a more inclusive society, using a patented mini blind football for pupils as a tool, to create opportunities for societal engagement both on a local and a European level.
The aim of this project is to allow all pupils to enjoy their Right to play and their Right to quality Education, and this aim will be achieved following a well-defined strategy, within the 12 months of the proposed program:
WP1 Project Management and Coordination:
• To map the schools in the consortium’s countries where pupils with VI attend together with sighted ones, aiming at least at 300 schools.
• To recruit (following certain criteria) 30 young volunteers, from all consortium members for the needs of the project.
• To launch a “Healthy body, sound mind” initiative for schools aiming for Sports for All awareness with the use of innovative pilot Educational Package.
• To produce & donate, 300 mini blind balls for pupils. Youthorama designed & patented the only mini blind football that exists around the world and will be distributed for free to pupils in need and their schools in order for pupils to enjoy their Right to play and have access to Quality Education
• To train, in terms of knowledge, skills & attitude for becoming competent, at least 100 teachers, young mentors, young volunteers, professors & students of Physical Education and parents, among others, through these new pilot educational tools who will in turn act as multipliers at national & international level.
• To identify 10 good practices on the development of inclusive sport activities. Good practices will be identified from cases where positive attitudes have been succeeded, especially those referred to the cooperative learning and inclusion of pupils with disabilities, no matter their religious/ nationality/ gender/ refugee status etc. Good Practices will be identified via pilot evaluation research following the interventions in the schools.
• To raise inclusion of pupils with VI in their school’s community and to measure the change as it will be depicted via the 600 on-line evaluation forms.
• To allow the 300 participants in the 3 Dissemination Community Events to embrace empathy by putting themselves in the sports shoes of pupils with VI and look through the diversity glasses.
Target group:
30 General Schools in all consortium countries with mixed pupils, blind and sighted ones, aiming for Inclusion; Families of the pupils with VI and sighted ones.
The involved participants of the project are:
• mixed pupils 5-18 years old, blind and sighted ones in General Schools
• young refugees and unaccompanied minors with visual impairment
• Families of pupils with VI & sighted ones
• University students of PE, youth volunteers in NFE, PE teachers in schools.
Needs of the target group:
Personal development, inclusion and empathy, are the three main needs of the target groups that will be addressed by the project.
Personal development for pupils with visual impairment: The harsh reality for pupils with visual impairment is that in certain cases like physical education hours or during break, the lack of inclusive tools, forces students to be excluded. The program shall provide a sustainable solution for the personal development of these pupils.
Inclusion for pupils with visual impairment and the sighted ones. The program will allow all pupils to enjoy the fundamental human right to play together and receive better quality and more inclusive education.
Empathy for the sighted pupils. By putting themselves in the shoes of the visual impairment pupils, which is part of the experiential approach included in the WP1, sighed pupils will get the best possible opportunities to develop empathy.
Overall, the project meets the need to build a more inclusive society, using patented mini blind football for pupils as a tool, promoting opportunities for societal engagement both on a local and European level and hence it addresses directly the objectives set out in the Call document (social inclusion).

Rural areas, challenges and solidarity
This course is for representatives of municipalities and youth organisations from rural areas, youth workers who work in rural areas around Europe and are interested in exploring the opportunities that the European Solidarity Corps Programme is bringing to these communities.
Municipality youth centres, youth organisations and youth councils based in rural areas are often facing many challenges when organising local or international youth projects, in order to support young people from their community, since they are lacking human resources and new fresh ideas.
The European Solidarity Programme is giving many potential opportunities to those organisations and youth workers to support their rural communities. ESC Programme aims to foster solidarity in European society, engaging young people and organisations in accessible and high-quality solidarity activities. It is a way for organisations to address societal challenges and to give young people the opportunity to learn and develop their potential. On the other hand, young people can bring fresh and inspiring ideas to your organisation.
Through this training course, we will explore all opportunities that the ESC Programme is bringing to organisations that work in rural communities. The online transnational NET Activity "Rural areas, challenges and solidarity”, organised by the Hellenic National Agency Erasmus+/ Youth & European Solidarity Corps, aims, through its 5 (five) sessions, to enable participants to develop their knowledge upon the European Solidarity Corps Programme and discover its possibilities for their communities.
Hellenic National Agency of the Erasmus:+ and European Solidarity Corps Programmes organise this course for selected participants during 28 February - 14 March 2022. Contact for questions: Natassa Dedousi, NET Officer, netseminars@inedivim.gr
