Are you thinking about volunteering abroad?
Critically explore your reasons for volunteering abroad and start a reflection process so that you can identify colonial legacies in International Voluntary Service and contribute to deconstructing them.
The course intended for potential international volunteers but also youth workers accompanying them in this process or organising international exchange activities.

Do the course on  your own or make it more fun and link up with a buddy and go through this learning process together.
This MOOC explores the complex topic of colonization, decolonization and how colonial mindset (referred in the course as coloniality) still influences society and international volunteering specifically.
Through this MOOC we want to create a space for (potential) volunteers to get familiar with these concepts and reflect on their motivation and/or experiences as international volunteers. The aim is to initiate the deconstruction of the colonial mindset which is still present in many IVS  contexts. The MOOC wants to encourage volunteers to examine their motivations to do international volunteering and look critically at the International Voluntary Service projects that organisations offer.
This online course is meant to be complementary to other pre-departure courses that IVS organisations organise or as an introductory course for people interested in international volunteering especially in a global context. You can do this course on your own but it's also fun to do it together with someone else. Complementing this online course with some in-person conversations can be really enriching.
